Santa Rosa Air Show
When: August 24/25, 2002 |
Where: Santa Rosa, CA |
The Santa Rosa Wings Over the Wine Country was outstanding.
Great warbird and CAF air tanker event with flybys, various formations and a rare stacked altitude hold by fighters.

The SNJ/T-6 Dawn Patrol flight was scrubbed Saturday due to scheduling. Sunday's SNJ/T-6 flight more than made up for scrubbed mission.
I hope you all witnessed the 3 ship formation takeoff by Jim Booth (lead), Paul McDonald and Jim Thomas. Great work by three very talented GGW pilots.
 A rare appearance, a P-47 Thunderbolt |
 Heritage flight - F6F, F-18 and Seafury |
 Stealth F-117 fly by |
Paul and Tony Banta were working hard planning and flying the warbird events. Tony had an exceptional challenge working the powerful F8F in formation with slower fighters. Watching Tony from the ground I could only imagine how hard he was working to keep flying, staying a semblance of formation flight and keeping a slow lead in sight - Sierra Hotel Tony!
The PX had a great weekend - thanks to all who helped make the PX so profitable. Every time I looked at the PX area I saw a line of customers.

The Airshow staff and organization was without question-outstanding.
The Airboss, Flight Ops, Ramp, Safety and Fuel and their staffs had it together! Their theme seemed to be “We’re here to help!”
