Fly Day July 15, 2000, Hayward Airport

Our second Fly Day of the year was a success, although turnout was light. Early morning overcast burned off around 1030, and we waited until 1145 for the roar of the radials. A formation flight with Tony Banta’s T-6 in lead, Jim Thomas’s SNJ on right wing and Dick Perkins in the Wing’s SNJ on left wing got the ground pounders attention. All this time Steve Johnson and John Baczynski were cooking up the tri-tip, pork ribs and chicken. Other aircraft that attended were Mike McKinley’s Aviat Husky (the first arrival) and Pitts flown by Andy. Mary showed up in her Giles with Fred Abramson as a passenger. Warren Cook and Bob Burnett provided marshalling, and again safety reigned supreme. The unofficial tally had 63 paying members and guests, with four rides given in the Wing’s SNJ. Below is a partial list of folks who helped out. Thanks to everyone and apologies if your name is missing.
