During this time, the FAA still had Class B VFR restrictions in place. But Livermore Airport, CA is about 1 mile East and North (just outside) of the San Francisco Class B top shelf, and therefore we were able to fly and give rides.

A message from Mike McKinley, Operations Officer:
A "hearty" Well Done! I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers for a successful flyday. I believe we had a good turnout considering the negative recent events. The PX gals did a great job selling and promoting. I believe we also recruited a few new folks. All and all, as our allies would say, Good Show! Special thanks to our pilots. Thanks Col Perkins; your landings looked great from a 1/4 mile away (quote from the XO). Thanks Col Cayne and Cochrane. This event with it's jet/prop mix was a test for the line guys-you passed. Thanks Chuck!! The SNJ was looking good. Standing tall, always ready to represent the Wing. Thanks Andy Macfie and crew. What can we do to make the next flyday better? Think about it and lets do an after action brief at the next staff meeting.
Respectfully,
Mike McKinley
Operations Officer
Golden Gate Wing

A message from Dick Perkins, Wing Leader:
Mike - I heartily agree. It was a great day starting with the nearly perfect weather. You did a great job of organizing and running the show. It was a real team effort: Dan Roads bringing the tables and chairs, Shell bringing the PX trailer, Pete Geiler doing his usual incredible job of cooking, Steve Johnson, despite having heart surgery in the recent past arranging the procurement of the cooker and then taking over the selling of tickets, Ed Hollingsworth helping with the dinner setup, Chuck Rooks doing a masterful job of ground operations, Paul Mc contacting the pilots of aircraft and convincing them to come (nearly everyone showed), Taber Kopan and Walt Caldwell bringing their wives, Marlys and Dorothy, who helped set up and then sold a record amount of merchandise out of our PX trailer, Doug Cayne who overcame a number of obstacles to bring in the T-33, Vance Cochran, one of our newest members who brought in his L-29, Bob Oliver with his Stearman, Max Fiore with his 195, Dave Peterson with his Yak, yourself with your Pitts, Jim Thomas with his SNJ, Chuck Rooks with his L - Bird all brought their aircraft to the ramp for display, Martin Michaud who helped prep the SNJ, John Kelly, Shell Karlsson, and Scott Nolan, who spent the previous weekend washing and waxing the SNJ, Andy MacFie who worked long hours to finish the landing gear restoration and on and on. I'm sure I have left out some folks and i apologize for that. But all in all it was a great day and once again I had the most fun of all.
