William Chapin piloted B-24s in the 746th Sqdn., 456th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force out of Italy. He flew 24 missions against Germany until he was shot down and became a prisoner of war. His internment was at Stalag Luft 17b in Krems, Austria.

He is author of the book, "Milk Run - Prisoner of War, 1944: An American Flyer in Stalag Luft 17b.
